For as long as I can remember I have had what I thought to be acne on my buttocks (I'm gonna' call it bum for short). I have been to skin doctors in the past for problems with my facial complexion but I was too embarassed to mention my bum so I kept it to myself (and hid by bum from boyfriends as best I could).
Just last night I finally Googled "bumps on buttocks" and found out about KP. It all made sense in an instant. I have always had these bumps on my upper arms and thighs. Sometimes it was worse than other times. Usually in the winter the condition got worse. I never knew what these rough patches were. Nothing really helped.
Since I couldn't see my bum very well I just assumed from feeling the skin that it was acne. It's KP! Bummer (pun intended) but at the same time at least I know what it is and it is not that I need to wash more or whatever else I was possibly doing wrong.
I wanted to say hi and express my support for those of you who have KP worse than me. My butt is hidden most of the time. Reading about all the picking is so sad. If I could reach and see enough to pick I'd be picking away, too, for sure.
I just bought KP Duty and I will write back to report. So far it is an amazing moisturizer but I don't know if it will help with the KP. I really believe it is mainly about getting the dead skin off first and foremost. I'm also trying Ecucerin w/alpha-hydroxy acid and a scrub. I'm also going to try the oatmeal scrubs people have mentioned. I bet that will help to calm the skin. I can't imagine this will go away but I'll try anything and remain hopeful. A bumpy bum is no fun. Good luck to all. ign_eeeew
