Hi my name is Amanda and I am 21 years old. I have had keratosis pilaris for about 5 years now. It has gotten worse in the past few years though. I have not tried much to get rid of it. I had no idea what it was until about 6 months ago when I finally asked my Dr. She told me to get AmLactin its over the counter. I got it and didnt put it on twice a day and not very often...maybe that is why it didnt work very well.
Anyways...I am so thankful I found this place! I dont know anyone else who has this condition except for my 16 year old sister but hers is not nearly as bad as mine. I am going to try some of the products others have listed in their posts. I really hope I can find something that works!!! I am tired of feeling self concious while wearing tanktops and short sleeved shirts.
I bought the Neutrogena Facial Bar and had no luck with that
I went to Bath and Body Works last week to get the Eucalyptus/Spearmint lotion and they were all out so I had to order it off the Internet....I did try the tester at the store and I think it smells horrible! It is very strong and smells like men's calogne! I am willing to try anything at this point so I dont care if it smells bad Im still trying it. It should be here in the next few days...cant wait to see if it works!
Hi, just wanted to let you know I tried Amlactin for about two months twice a day, and it did next to nothing for me either. I don't think it is the right treatment for KP. I am going to try to find some of the Neutrogena Skin Smoothing Lotion so many of the others are talking about. I have had KP for 22 years now and just last year found out what it was. I am doing a lot research, and if I find something that works, I will let you know. I have two daughters, and they are showing signs of it as well. Good luck!
FYI: I noticed results with the BBW eucalyptus spearmint lotion right away. After 1 week, my KP was about 90% gone. Also, the transparent Neutrogena soap only worked for me when I was a kid/teenager. It doesn't work for me now as an adult.
i used amlactin religiously for an entire summer, which was difficult because you have to protect the part of your skin you use amlactin on from the sun even more than usual. it didnt do anything for me either.
