After finding out about KP from a niece in Occupational Therapy, I knew I definitely had KP. However, even thought it was there when I was young (back of arms, side of chest under armpit, some on the butt, etc..), it was never really noticeable because I was outside in the sun a lot in the summer and covered in the winter. Sun tan would block the view and shirts would cover it up. I never really paid much attention to it, because it was never really that noticeable. Now I am 42 years old (male) and all of a sudden I start to get this big time and it is very itchy. Sometimes when I start itching, when I stop, it takes every bit of mind control to not continue to itch, and if I do, I think I will itch a hole in my skin. I got a prescription for a hydrocortisone cream from the doctor, but it doesn't seem to help and have tried Amlactin 12% and Eucerin Skin Care. I am not having much success, and what used to be just on the outside of my arm, is now on my thighs and in the creases behind my knees. Any suggestions on the itching and the best methods for controlling? I can attribute only a couple of things as to why this kicked off. I was taking Omega-3 fish oil for about 2 years to try to help reduce cholesterol, then stopped taking it for a while because the bottle I purchased was extremely fishy. So basically shut the Omega-3 down "cold turkey". About the same time, I also started to take a Niacin vitamin to help with cholesterol. Right in that time frame, I started getting these major boughts of itchy KP! Anyone else out there with the Itchy type of KP?
