I'm glad I found this site. I have had KP ever since I can remember, and I find it very annoying. I have it bad on my upper and lower arms and just the splotches on my legs.
I asked a dermatologist once and she gave me Brevoxly cleanser and Lac-Hydrin lotion. It did not help as far as I can tell. I used it for a month.
Just extreme exfoliation helps to get the bumps off, but the redness only abates with a sun tan. I am reading all your tips though and am ready to try anything!
It has gotten to the point where I try to use tinted lotion when going sleeveless, and I have even tried makeup to cover it up. What a mess.
A nurse practicioner told me recently that she has heard of using steroids to get rid of it, but that it does not work well and usually comes back. Have any of you heard of this?
Right now I am using Vaseline intensive care Body Complexion lotion with Alpha hydroxy acid. We'll see how that goes. In the meantime I'm ready to try one of the homemade scrubs I've been reading about! Keep the posts coming!
I was using the Vaseline Healthy Body Complexion lotion after I saw results with it after using it 2x/day for 3 weeks. It was the best results I'd gotten in a long time and I didn't have to pay much money for it, and it's an OTC product. I would say my KP went away up to 90%. My skin felt 100% smooth to the touch.
Right now, I'm using Caress Moisturizing Body Bar in the berry scent and Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Eucalyptus Spearmint body lotion, and my KP is almost 100% gone. It made me think that ingredients that are naturally antibacterial/anti-inflammatory might be helpful for some.
