Hello everyone. I am new to this message board. I am thrilled to see that this board exists. I was wondering what this bumpy redness was on my arms and legs and did a search and found that it actually had a name! I searched more and found this awesome message board. No dermatologist,or any doctor for that matter, has ever given me a name for what I have or known anything about KP.
My name is Katie and have had KP since I can remember. I have it on my arms and legs. My husband actually has KP too! But he didn't know there was a name for it either. He has it on almost his whole body. He is actually the only person I have ever known to have this terrible skin problem besides my father (my dad denies he has bumps and actually gets defensive and angry if you tell him he does, ???). The bad news, is that we have over a 70% chance for any children that we may have to have KP since we both have it (it's 50% if only one parent has it). Very sadly, we do have a little boy who is 19 months old and does have KP on his cheeks and a little teeny bit here-and-there on the back of his upper-arms.
Can anyone advise me on anything to do? I would like to steer towards more natural treatments or something proven to be safe for babies/toddlers since he is so young still. He has it on his cheeks, which I do not have but my husband does. My son's KP on his face is soooo much worse than it ever was on my husbands face apparently. I have been applying lotion 3 times a day which has helped a lot to tone down the redness and make the bumps smaller and softer. Just 2 days ago I started using BOUDREAUX'S BUTT PASTE. Funny name I know, but has anyone tried this???? It is for diaper rash but also can be used for a lot of other things.

When I was a kid, my mom took me to a derm who told her to have me use Neutrogena's Transparent bar soap. It got rid of my KP in 2 weeks. You could try this 1st on your son.
I've never used, or even heard of, Boudreaux's Butt Paste - sorry!
Thanks for the link! It is very helpful. I will have to try the Neutrogena Transparent Bar! Did that clear your redness too? Did you have KP on your face? I want to also say that the Boudreaux's Butt Paste we have been using our son's face 2x daily (at naptime and at bedtime) has not really helped. I am dissapointed, it seemed to be a miracle cream for all skin conditions from the reviews. It did make the crusty bumps on his cheeks smaller and softer (and not as many), but so did the Aveeno Baby Lotion that we were using before. Both products did about ZERO for the redness though, which is the worst part about his KP! I will try the Neutrogena Bar that you recomended! I am very hopeful, but also know how stubborn KP is! Thank you so much.
