My name is Lauren & I found out I had keratosis pilaris when I was 1 year old. I'm continuously asked by my peers "Why are you arms so bumpy?" or "Is that zits?" I hate swimming units because I have to show my stomack, legs & arms, Is it normal to have really bad Keratosis Pilaris on your stomach? because I have it all over my arms, legs (shaving is harder,) neck, thighs, butt, its just everywhere & I've tried using lotions and all that but they never really work. "In the shower is Dove body was good to use? Do you have any suggestions to control it?" I have 4 other non-communicable diseases too, Rosasha (Red dry cheeks) Eczema (For SURE I have this too.) Allergies Asthma Pigeon Toed (It's permanent without surgery)
These other diseases make my skin even drier and in the winter my back will start to itch uncontrollably and it sometimes hurts. When I found out for school that I had to pick a Non-communicable disease and tell everyone all about it, I said "what a better way to show everyone that thats what I have and I didn't do anything to get it." But then one of the boys searched it on Yahoo, and told everyone that I have the Chicken Skin Disease , so now I've been know as "chicken girl" and its not that funny. I'm now 13, and I haven't had any help for this from my doctors, my mom & dad don't have it and I don't know of anyone else who have in my blood lines. I just want to get it somewhat cleared up, because I want to look normal, and feel normal too.
