I'm a 23 male and had it as long as I can remember. After doing some research I came across "KP" and I was finally able to put a name to it. I'm a fellow sufferrer along with a few people I know who have no idea what the condition is called (neither did I). I have it on the back of my arms, front thighs, and back of my legs (just below the calves). IT SUCKS!! Well, over the years I've tried different various things to try and calm it without knowing what it was. This what I've found
WORKS * Tanning
DOESN'T WORK * Non-scented moisturisers * Normal everyday moisturiser * Aloe vera gel * Ex-foliating scrub
I've got olive skin, so keeping an all year round tan is impossible. I've also noticed when I go to the gym and train my arms, it comes out terribly. I would say this is because blood has filled the muscle, causing the skin to tighten and the red effect in the spots to be pushed up even more on the surface.
I am not Vitamin A deficient and very healthy. It is definitely hereditary because both my dad/uncle have it slightly.
I am looking for a product at the moment, which contains alpha-hydroxy acids (glycolic, etc) to give that a go. I'm not paying $80 for cream though.
Try Neutrogena Skin Smoothing Lotion. I've had this condition for years and for the last year I've used this lotion every other day, or every day, and it has improved it tremendously! It's about 95% GONE! From my thighs, and from the backs of my arms! This stuff is incredible!
I have inadvertently come upon a combination that is really working for me.
I started using Caress Moisturizing body bar in Berry Fusion along with Bath-n-Body Works Aromatherapy Eucalyptus Spearmint body lotion. My boyfriend said to me a few days ago (he's a picker) that there wasn't more than "the one bump" for him to pick (usually there are many). I thought I was just imagining that it was dimishing b/c I had made a pact w/ myself not to worry about how to get rid of it this winter (I needed a "KP break"), and I thought it was just a "mental" thing that it looked like it was dimishing.
I've been using NeoStrata Ultra Smoothing Lotion, it has 10% AHA (glycolic acid) and is very good. It's $16.00 for 6.8 oz which is pretty reasonable compared to other AHA products out there. I'm happy with it so far.
