Hi everyone. I found this board via another "skin picking" web site. I (think) I've had KP for over 10 years. I only have it on my upper arms and shoulders. For me the problem is the bumps' existence and my complete addiction to picking at them. I pick at them, and they come back.. I try to leave it alone and they don't seem to go away, so I might as well pick again.
So these bumps I have - are very small raised skin-tone bumps and they sort-of look like pimples but they are not. I squeeze them, and feel a little "pop" and a tiny white, waxy substance comes out. Then I'm left with a raised red bump. The redness goes away overnight or over a few days but then new bumps re-occur and there is some scarring. My arms look bad. Therefore, I never wear tanktops, avoid showing my arms. It's depressing. I am so sick of it!! :-( Is this KP? Whatever it is, it's truly ruined my life. I have tried products, creams, leaving them alone, scrubs, a few dermatologist visits, TendSkin, etc. I've even thought about getting tattoos on my arms, because anything would be better than these bumps.
I am convinced if I can get the bumps to disappear I will stop picking at the skin. Haven't found a product to do this yet. Does anyone know what I'm talking about here? Hopefully I will find some comfort/answers here. Thanks...
Try these products: Vaseline Healthy Body Complexion Lotion<- This smoothed out my bumps so there were none to pick.
Or
Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Eucalyptus Spearmint Body Lotion<- This has gotten rid of my KP almost completely & no more bumps. I am almost 100% certain it's the eucalyptus ingredient that is eliminating my KP.
Hey LAHills, i couldnt have described my exact situation better than you wrote it here. My problem is exactly the same as youres. My addiction to them has killed my confidence as i cant wear any tank tops or shirts that dont cover my arms. The thing my dermatologist ahs said is there is no cure other than NOT picking at them, but its quite impossible not to pick, at least for me. Have you tried sorrene's reply with the lotions? i think i will try that.
Well only just found this site today,i've had KP most of my life, i'm 41, began to notice it when i was a teen really, got it on my arms and fronts of my legs. It's rubbish when you can't wear skirts amd sleeveless tops with out people saying"You cold, you've gone goose pimply"I've Not really tried any thing special for it,just exfoliate and moisturise, but still is rough. Anyone here actually trying some thing that DO'S WORK,i live in UK by the way!
I just found this website today! Like LAHills, my arms are a mess and now my upper legs are too. I do pick at them to which makes it worst. I don't wear shirts that don't cover my arms and I hardy ever wear shorts. My confidence is shot. My husband says he can hardly notice them, I think it's because I have freckles on my arms, but to me they are all I can see. I will try the 2 suggestions below but has anyone tried anything else that works?
Quote: Hey. you're not alone, trust me. I'm 17 and dealing with the same thing since... i don't even remember when but yeah. Being in such situation is horrible, really... at times people notice it less than you do - but if you're like me, I get really self conscious, especially when my boyfriend decides to get all touchy feely (if you know what I mean.)
Well, I've been doing lots of research about KP. I don't know if this might help you, but it's been helping me and I only have tried this for like a month or less.
I use an exfoliator (Dove Gentle exfoliator) to be exact, and i wash with it scrubbing well with warm or tepid water (they say scrubbing too hard might be bad... so don't scrub too hard..) Then I made this mixture thingy.. I bought Olay's Quench lotion for extra dry skin (it's like six or seven dollars, the big big bottle) and mixed it with Aspirin (because it's salicylic acid and that helps get rid of the bumps); I use it after I dry, making sure I massage it into all of the places where I have KP.
I used to pick at them (horrible me, now I have scars) so for me the spots haven't faded because they fade with time.. but what I do definitely gets rid of the bumps and makes my skin smooth. If you can find a way to get rid of the scars and red little spots, then let me know!
Hope this works for you.
I posted this to someone else, but I was too lazy to type again (lol don't ask... I'm just falling asleep) so I copy/pasted. I really hope it helps you, though..
