wow, how great to finally be able to talk about something that I have been embarrassed about for so many years. I too have dreaded summer season because it means wearing short sleeves, shorts and gasp... a swimming suit. I never knew what it was and have had it I realize now since I was a child, I am 34. at first it was only on my upper arms but now I am noticing that it is "spreading" to my thighs (sides, front, and back), hips, knees, my forearms by my elbows, my butt, and sometimes on the sides of my waist. it is so bad sometimes that I feel so ugly and ashamed because on top of having these bumps, I also pick at them constantly. it's a never-ending cycle it seems, sometimes it seems to be getting so much better only for me to wake up in the morning and to notice all these new ones!! and then I am off picking with a vengance, not very sexy when you have new bumps next to gross scabs!!
anyway I am rambling but I wanted to ask others if they noticed a difference after swimming in salt water for a while? I noticed that when I swim in the sea during the summer, my bumps tend to diminish. also I have another question about body lotions and stuff. I am always afraid of using lotions that may cause pimples or worsen the kp. which body lotions dont clog pores? also anyone notice a difference when shaving, waxing, etc???? thanks so much for any suggestions!
Welcome hayete! I also notice a difference after swimming in salt water and/or chlorinated water. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the sun and moisture or what...but it does seem to help.
As far as body lotions, I'm currently using the Neutrogena Skin Smoothing Body Lotion and it appears to be helping the bumps on my arms, although I've not been using it long. I have the red dots on my legs and would love to find something to make them go away...I've tried various shaving creams and as someone else suggested, I tried shaving with hair conditioner but the red dots remain.
